Company Profile

Quadrant is a financial services company specialising in superannuation and retirement products. We've been around since 1944 and are locally owned and operated in Tasmania. Quadrant is a profit for members fund, which means once taxes, investment costs and administration costs are deducted from your account, any profits are returned to you.

We're dedicated to helping you achieve your retirement goals and offer a comprehensive retirement solution incorporating superannuation, a pension product and financial advice.

We are governed by a Trustee Board of Directors and employ staff in Hobart together with representatives in Launceston and the North West.

It all began in 1944

Back in 1944, the events of World War II dominated the news - but in the last week of September, Lions barrackers (that's Fitzroy, not Brisbane) took time out to celebrate their Grand Final victory over Richmond.

In the same year, Bing Crosby crooned 'I'll be seeing you, in all the old familiar places...' and the ballad became a wartime favourite.

Back then, Australia's population was just over seven million people - in the 65 years since, that number has almost trebled.

And that year was also a landmark in the Quadrant story - it was the year in which most local government councils in Tasmania pooled their resources to form the Municipal Employees Assurance Scheme (MEAS).

MEAS operated successfully for more than half a century, for municipal employees through investments that provided superannuation benefits in their retirement. In 1997 we introduced our Investment Choice Fund and Accelerated Benefits Fund, broadening the benefits for our members. In 1998 we changed our name to Quadrant Superannuation.

At the same time, non-local government employees were eligible to become members which marked the start of our rapid growth to over 6300 members from all sorts of Tasmanian businesses and industries today.

We've continued to grow

RACT and Hobart City Council joined in 2004; we introduced our Personal super fund as well as a super pension in 2005; and since 2006, we've operated the Launceston City Council Defined Benefits fund. We've added a team of expert financial advisors and developed award winning communication programs (including our great new website) to help you understand the sometimes complex world of super!

So while we are celebrating the great age of 65, we're nowhere near retirement. We'll be around for many years to come, still providing excellent service, great advice and everything else you need to achieve the type of retirement you want!
