Spouse contributions
Boost you and your spouse's super at the same time! A spouse superannuation rebate is available in certain circumstances when personal contributions are made on behalf of a non-working or low income earning spouse.
If your spouse is earning under $10,800 a year you can get an 18% rebate up to a maximum of $540. For example if you contributed $2,000 to your spouse's super account you would get a rebate of $360 (18% of $2,000).
You can make additional contributions to your spouse's account and you can also have your spouse contributions deducted from your salary if you wish. This strategy is useful to boost the super balance of people who are out of the workforce due to parenting responsibilities or maternity leave.
